Is my WhatsApp account safe? Could I get banned?
AutoApply connects to WhatsApp via an unofficial third-party library (Baileys). WhatsApp does not officially support automation, so there is always some theoretical risk. In v1 we are strictly read-only: we never send, post, or react to any message on your behalf. Read-only usage carries a significantly lower risk profile than bots that write messages, but we can't offer a zero-risk guarantee. Use it on an account you're comfortable with and monitor it in the first few days.
Does AutoApply send messages from my WhatsApp?
No. In v1 AutoApply only reads your selected WhatsApp groups — it never sends, reacts to, or modifies any message. All job applications are delivered by email through your own SMTP account. Your WhatsApp account remains fully in your control.
How does matching work — does it use AI tokens for every message?
Matching is deterministic and token-free. When you upload a resume, we extract your skills and target keywords once. Every inbound WhatsApp message is then scored by computing the overlap between the role's required skills and your profile — no LLM call, no latency, no per-message cost. AI is used only when AutoApply writes the actual email proposal for a shortlisted match.
How are applications actually sent?
You add one or more Gmail (or any SMTP) accounts with an app password. AutoApply uses those accounts via SMTP to send personalized email proposals to the contact email extracted from the WhatsApp post. Your email accounts rotate automatically to stay within daily send limits, and each account's health is tracked so poor-performing accounts are deprioritized.
Can I review applications before they go out?
Yes. AutoApply has two modes. Matches above your configured confidence threshold are applied automatically. Matches below that threshold — or any match where you prefer manual control — are placed in an approval queue. From there, you can preview the full email proposal, edit the subject or body, swap portfolio attachments, and approve or dismiss with one click.
What data does AutoApply store?
We store: your hashed password and JWT; your SMTP credentials encrypted at rest with AES-256 (Fernet); your uploaded resume (used for matching only); the text content of hiring messages extracted from your groups; and the outbound email proposals we generate. We do not store the full history of non-hiring messages from your WhatsApp groups — only messages identified as hiring leads are persisted.
Which WhatsApp groups can I monitor?
After connecting your WhatsApp via QR code, you'll see a list of all the groups you're a member of. You choose which ones AutoApply reads. You can add or remove groups at any time from the settings page. The system only reads groups you explicitly select.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time from your account settings — no forms, no waiting. Your plan downgrades to Free at the end of the current billing period and all your data remains accessible. If you want your data deleted entirely, email us at hello@autoapply.app and we'll action it within 48 hours.
